Production Fund

The Production Fund invests in NSW screen production companies, projects and creatives to produce or post produce in NSW. The purpose of funding is to maximise cultural and economic benefits to the state by supporting NSW screen practitioners to create new intellectual property that assists them to realise commercially sustainable businesses and grow the NSW screen sector.  

 The objectives of the Program are to fund exceptional quality, diverse and engaging fiction and non-fiction screen content that will:  

•  Generate employment and economic activity for NSW  

•  Make a contribution to Australian culture and storytelling, nationally and internationally  

•  Grow the number and size of NSW production companies and provide increased opportunities for NSW key creatives  

•  Meet the objectives of Screen NSW’s diversity commitment. 

This application will help us understand your project, its production plans, audience and market pathway, proposed NSW activity, and the economic, industry and cultural outcomes it will deliver for NSW. 

Regional Filming Fund 

The Regional Filming Fund supports screen productions to undertake meaningful production activity in Regional NSW by offsetting eligible regional production costs. 

The fund aims to: 

• Increase economic activity in Regional NSW by encouraging screen productions to film outside metropolitan areas. 

• Enable Regional NSW to benefit from the growth of film and television production in NSW. 

• Support sustainable employment, skills development and capacity building for Regional NSW screen practitioners and businesses. 

• Strengthen the use of Regional NSW locations, workforce and services through meaningful on-location production. 

• Ensure NSW Government investment delivers value for money and demonstrable regional economic outcomes. 

This application will help us understand your project, its proposed regional production activity, regional expenditure, engagement with regional practitioners and businesses, and the economic, industry and cultural benefits it will deliver to Regional NSW.

• submission of this application does not guarantee funding will be granted for any project, and the Department expressly reserves its right to accept or reject this application at its discretion;
• it must bear the costs of preparing and submitting this application and the Department does not accept any liability for such costs, whether or not this application is ultimately accepted or rejected; and
• it has read the Funding Guidelines for the Program and has fully informed itself of the relevant program requirements.

By submitting this application form, the Applicant acknowledges and agrees that:

• if this project application is successful, the relevant details of the project will be made public, including details such as the names of the organisation (Applicant) and any partnering organisation (state government agency or non-government organisation), project title, project description, location, anticipated time for completion and amount awarded;
• the Department will use reasonable endeavours to ensure that any information received in or in respect of this application which is clearly marked ‘Commercial-in-confidence’ or ‘Confidential’ is treated as confidential, however, such documents will remain subject to the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (NSW) (GIPA Act); and
• in some circumstances the Department may release information contained in this application form and other relevant information in relation to this application in response to a request lodged under the GIPA Act or otherwise as required or permitted by law.

Applicants may apply for funding from both the Production Fund and the Regional Filming Fund streams, or only the Production Fund. Regional Filming Fund applications cannot be made on their own.
